This year’s congress will have an exciting scientific programme and a variety of activities including plenary lectures, oral abstracts, member- and industry-led symposia, and design workshops. We are also delighted that awards for best practice and best abstract will be made, and there will be a 3-minute thesis competition – a first at any UKCO. There will also be substantial opportunity for networking and for socialising at a congress dinner that will focus on local dishes and produce.

The theme of this year’s congress will be ‘place’, with the aim of highlighting the range of places at which opportunities for intervention exist. For example, the clinical, the school, or the community.

On behalf of the UK ASO, we warmly welcome you back to UKCO and sincerely hope that you will register to join us in Lancaster. A strength of ASO has always been the high quality it’s scientific meetings couple with its reputation for being a ‘friendly’ association. We are sure that #UKCO2022 will be of the highest quality and a great opportunity to rekindle friendships.

Chair of the #UKCO2022 organising committee

SCOPE Accreditation

We are very pleased that UKCO 2022 has been accredited by the World Obesity Federation for 4 SCOPE points. These points count towards SCOPE Certification – the only internationally recognized certification in obesity.

COVID-19 and UKCO

The UKCO planning committee are continually monitoring the Covid-19 situation and are prepared to ensure we meet all current guidelines and recommendations. We would recommend that all delegates take out appropriate travel insurance cover and all congress attendees must comply with relevant current government guidance at the time of the event.

The organising team have also taken extra steps to help prevent the transmission of Covid-19. We have booked larger than necessary rooms to allow people to spread out and the dinner venue has big glass doors that open out to allow for extra air circulation.

We also ask that all attendees take all possible precautions against spreading infection through the wearing of masks and frequent hand washing. Please take a lateral flow test for the three days prior to attending the congress and, ideally, on both days of the congress. If you test positive at any point throughout the congress, please notify the ASO office as soon as possible.
