Registration desk and congress team contact details

The registration desk is located outside the Isdell Courtyard for the duration of the congress. Please do not hesitate to contact the team at the desk if you have any queries during the congress.

Making UKCO inclusive

In planning for UKCO 2023, we have implemented a period dignity scheme as a step towards a gender inclusive conference environment. This scheme includes the provision of free sanitary products and aims to address period poverty or simply being “caught short” which can impact on people’s ability to fully engage with conferences. We have also asked all delegates if they have any accessibility or other needs (e.g., prayer space, breastfeeding space) to create an inclusive conference. Please let us know if you have any needs that are not met this year to help inform planning for future UKCOs.

Badges

Your name badge will be provided on arrival at the registration desk and should be worn at all times. Due to pharmaceutical company sponsorship rules we have had to colour code the badges. Your role will be displayed in a colour coded strip to identify all attendees based on the following:

  • Working in a non-commercial field of clinical obesity management or obesity research at an academic institution (e.g. Dietitian or Academic Researcher) (blue strip)
  • Patient representatives (green strip)
  • Pharmaceutical Company representatives (orange strip)
  • Crew (liliac strip)

COVID-19 and UKCO

Whilst it is not compulsory to wear a mask during the event, you may wish to do so while moving about the building in particular. There will be hand sanitiser stations available for your use on site as well as hand washing facilities. We do politely request that you do not attend if you are displaying any Covid symptoms

Safety, security and luggage store

Luggage store facilities will be available for the duration of the congress in Syndicate Room 2 on the ground floor of Riddel Hall. Please do not leave bags or equipment unattended. ASO cannot be held responsible for misplaced personal belongings. Luggage is left at your own risk.  This room will be unmanned.

Abstracts

The abstract poster display will be available in the exhibition space in Conference Room 1 from 08:45 hours on Thursday until the end of the congress. If you have a poster to be displayed, please ensure that it is affixed to the appropriate poster-board between 08:45 - 11:10 hours on Thursday, prior to the first coffee break.

A list of poster numbers to indicate where your poster should be hung and velcro fastenings will be provided in the poster display area of the exhibition hall. Posters can be taken down from 13:20 hours on the 15th of September and any left after 15:30 hours will be disposed of.

Evaluation and accreditation

Your feedback is crucial to the planning of future congresses. Please also complete the online congress evaluation form which will be emailed to you at the end on of the congress.

UKCO 2023 is a SCOPE accredited event. You will be contacted by SCOPE once the event is over with the details of how to access your certificate.

Meals, refreshments and catering at UKCO

Catering will be available in Conference Room 2 throughout the Congress.

A drinks reception will be held in Conference Room 1 and the glass corridor at 1730 - 1900 hours. Please join us for a drink and maximise the opportunity to network with your congress colleagues.

The UKCO2023 Belfast local organising committee have worked hard alongside Queen’s University Belfast Food and Drink Team to choose a range of tasty, nutritious and sustainable food options for delegates throughout the conference.

Particularly, we had input from our committee members with lived experience of obesity (Fiona and Susie) and from our nutrition, dietetic and psychology committee members (Laura, Eleni and Laura McG). We hope that there is plenty of choice and that you find what you need during the conference.

Please feel free to let a member of the UKCO team know if we can be of any assistance during the conference regarding catering.

Have a great congress!

The UK Congress on Obesity has been instigated and organised by ASO. Sponsors have contributed funding towards this event in return for exhibition space.
