New ASO Trustees Announced

ASO are delighted to announce the appointment of three new trustees.

Dimitris Papamargaritis, Sandra Isibor and Dawn Swancutt were appointed to the ASO Board at our Annual General Meeting on the 8th December 2022.

We offer a warm welcome to Dimitris, Sandra and Dawn and look forward to their valuable contribution to the work of the Board.

Papamargaritis, DimitriosDimitris Papamargaritis

Dr Dimitris Papamargaritis is Associate Professor of Diabetes and Endocrinology at University of Leicester (Leicester Diabetes Research Centre) and Honorary Consultant at University Hospitals of Northamptonshire (Kettering General Hospital) with special interest in obesity and type 2 diabetes. He is SCOPE certified and a National Clinical Fellow of the European Association for the Study of Obesity (EASO). He is also member of the academic and research grant committees of the Association of British Clinical Diabetologists (ABCD).He has completed the Growing Obesity Action and Leadership (GOAL) programme (2021-2022) with focus on obesity services development.

His clinical priority over the next years is to ensure that people living with obesity at Northamptonshire will have access to the NICE approved pharmacotherapies for weight management. His career aim is to become a leading clinical academic who will improve the care and life of people living with obesity by conducting high quality and impactful clinical research. Further details...

 

Sandra IsiborSandra Isibor

Dr Sandra Isibor is a General Practitioner with a special interest in Obesity and Weight Management. She graduated from Leicester Medical school and completed her foundation and specialist training in East midlands. She is passionate about empowering individuals and communities to take small steps in adopting a healthier lifestyle. She believes that individuals should be offered tailored lifestyle advice relating to their presentation, instead of a one size fits all. Dr Isibor has worked directly with NHS England and public health England in accessing marginalised communities. She was one of the spokespersons in three National campaigns for Covid-19 vaccination uptake, National Diabetes Prevention Programme and Better health Website access. Dr Isibor is an advocate for improved access to health care for ethnic minorities and other marginalised groups.

Dawn SwancuttDawn Swancutt 

As a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Plymouth, Dawn works in multi-disciplinary settings, having a keen interest in mixed methods research and representing patients’ experience of care. Her research focus is on the interface between patient need and expectations and how healthcare services are delivered, in particular how need can be met by low-cost service modification.

Dawn is the Programme Manager and a co-applicant for PROGROUP, a £2.5 million NIHR programme of research on how services for people who have obesity are provided.
