Terms and Conditions
- Early career researchers’ (ECRs) are defined as researchers who have not yet held a full-time permanent academic post in a university or comparable institution. ECRs should not have held any substantial grant income as a Principal Investigator and / or should not have already established their own research group. There are no eligibility rules based on years of post-doctoral experience. Our definition of ECRs includes postgraduate students, doctoral students, post-doctoral researchers, and researchers transitioning to independence.
- Delegate places are limited and will be offered to the strongest applicants following peer-review of applications. Places cannot be guaranteed until payment has been received for UKCO registration.
- To be eligible for the ECR event, all delegates must be an early career researcher (see above definition), registered for the UK Congress on Obesity (UKCO), able to attend the event in-person.
- Delegates must be a member of ASO at the time of registration and at the time of the event.

- ASO reserves the right to alter the programme without prior notice.
- If the congress has to be translated to a digital format for any reason outside the control of ASO, delegate registrations will be transferred to this new digital event. If a digital format is required we will endeavour to keep the event on the same dates.
- In the event that the event is cancelled or cannot take place for any reason outside the control of ASO and the event for whatever reason is not able to be translated to a digital format, ASO shall not be liable for any loss, cost or expense howsoever arising.
- Delegates are advised to take out appropriate travel insurance cover.
- One night of accommodation will be organised and paid for by ASO for all attendees. This will be for the 23rd September 2024 only and should attendees wish to extend their stay, must organise and pay for this themselves.
- All attendees must comply with relevant current government guidance at the time of the event.
- We ask that all attendees take all possible precautions against spreading infection through the wearing of masks and frequent hand washing. Please take a lateral flow test each day for the three days prior to attending and, ideally, on the day of the event. If you test positive at any point throughout the event, please notify the ASO office as soon as possible.
