In partnership with the Association of Directors of Public Health, Health Foundation, Royal Society for Public Health, and Royal College of Nursing, CRUK have drafted a consensus statement ahead of the Health Disparities White Paper. This primarily focusses on the need for population-wide policy measures that reduce health disparities and targets key risk factors linked with health inequalities (such as smoking, obesity, and alcohol consumption). A secondary focus is the need for sustainable and sufficient funding to ensure the Health Disparities White Paper has a lasting impact.
They are hoping to show an aligned front, like we have done previously on consensus statements for public health funding, by demonstrating that as a coalition invested in reducing health inequalities we will hold Government to account.
They are requesting other members add their support to this consensus statement. The deadline for confirmations of support is close of play on Wednesday 6th July – all they require to add your organisation’s support is a copy of your logo.
If you have any questions or would like to add your support, please contact olivia.cheek@cancer.org.uk. Given the short timings, they are unable to accept any changes to the copy. They will also be sending a copy of the document to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care.
