Consultant clinical associate professor in primary care University of East Anglia
Dr Parretti is an academic GP with a specialist interest in obesity. She originally studied chemistry and completed a PhD in chemistry. However, she then changed careers and retrained as a doctor at St George’s, London. She returned to research during her GP training and conducts research related to obesity and primary care. She has a particular interest in long-term post-bariatric surgery care and currently leads an NIHR funded study, Promise Care, which aims to understand the issues around delivering this care. She has also recently led a working group to develop the British Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society (BOMSS) GP Hub for long-term post-bariatric surgery care. Clinically, she works as a salaried GP and in a Tier 3 specialist weight management service.
Dr Parretti is a member of the NICE weight management guidelines update committee. She was elected to the BOMSS council in 2020 and is a co-opted member of the Obesity Empowerment Network professional steering group.
