Early Career Network
The early career network (ECN) is an inclusive and supportive environment for all of our early career members to network, support and learn. Our main goal is to organise and facilitate a variety of talks and workshops (e.g., career panels, skills development, networking) aimed at supporting the progression of members who consider themselves as early career.
We define early career as members who have not yet held any substantial grant income as a Principal Investigator and / or should not have already established their own research group. There are no eligibility rules based on years of post-doctoral experience. Our definition of early career includes postgraduate students, doctoral students, post-doctoral researchers, lectureships, teaching fellows, and researchers transitioning to independence.
As part of our work, we organise and facilitate the one day early career network event held ahead of the UK Congress on Obesity each year together with local organising committees at host institutions.

Volunteer Opportunities
Membership is open to obesity researchers, healthcare professionals, clinicians, academics, scientists, and students who are working and/or studying in the field of obesity and to others who have a particular interest in this area.
Student membership with ASO is only £30 annually and there are so many benefits. There has never been a better time to join!
ASO Networks
In addition to UKCO, we have ASO network meetings across the UK in order to meet the ASO mission and objectives.
Meetings are hare organised locally with support from the ASO Networks Lead.
