We are growing our operational committees so we can deliver more for ASO members, and we are inviting applications for a wide range of voluntary roles.

Whether you are a clinician, researcher, policy professional, or student, there are opportunities to suit different skills and levels of experience.

These positions are open to ASO members at all career stages. To be eligible for operational roles, you must be a current ASO member studying or working in a professional research and/or practice area relevant to obesity.

Key details:

  • Deadline: Sunday 19 October 2025, midnight

  • Time commitment: Around one day per month, including meetings (usually during office hours) and delivering on the role outside of meetings

  • Remuneration: Most roles are voluntary and unpaid, except:

    • Lived experience positions are remunerated at NIHR-recommended rates

    • Early Career Researcher (ECR) internships come with a small bursary

Roles available include:

  • Operational Team: Membership Officer, Secretary (Communications/Research), Administration Officer (Board of Trustees)

  • Clinical Practice and Obesity Management: Lived Experience Lead, Primary Care Lead, Sponsorship & Funding roles, Paediatric and Adult Clinical Teams

  • Communications, Partnerships and Networks: Consultation Lead, Events Team, Events & Communications Internships, Public Affairs Officer

  • Research and Scientific: Webinar Series Coordinator, UKCO Administrative Lead, UKCO Deputy Lead, UKCO Team Member
