Louise is the Lived Experience, Obesity Care Lead, bringing both professional expertise and personal insight to the role. Having lived with obesity throughout their life, they offer an authentic and informed perspective on the realities of weight stigma, access to care, and long-term management of obesity.
In 2024, they underwent bariatric surgery, further deepening their understanding of the clinical, psychological, and social aspects of obesity treatment and recovery. Alongside their lived experience, Louise is a Clinical Nurse Specialist working within a Tier 3 weight management service in Wales, where they support patients with complex obesity-related needs using evidence-based, compassionate care.
Through their role at ASO, they are committed to amplifying lived experience voices, improving communication around obesity as a chronic disease, and challenging misconceptions to promote equitable, person-centred care.
