Dr Kath Roberts

Communication, Partnerships and Networks Sub-Committee Chair

Dr Kath Roberts is a Senior Lecturer in Public Health Nutrition at the University of York, with over two decades of experience working at the intersection of nutrition, obesity, and public health. Her research focuses on dietary patterns, diet quality, and the wider determinants of obesity, with a strong emphasis on reducing health inequalities. She has led the development of national evaluation frameworks for weight management interventions and contributed to key government reports, including those supporting the UK’s Sugar Reduction Strategy. Kath previously held senior roles in Public Health England and the Department of Health, where she led programmes on food insecurity, obesity intelligence, and nutrition policy. She currently leads an NIHR-funded research team evaluating local public health interventions. As Chair of ASO’s Communications, Partnerships and Networks Sub-committee, she is passionate about fostering collaboration across research, policy, and practice to improve population diets and tackle obesity.
