Abir Ajab

UKCO Administration

Abir is an educator, researcher, and dietitian with 17 years’ experience in eating behaviour, obesity and weight management, and public health research. Her work focuses on clinical weight management, supporting patients to adopt sustainable, healthy lifestyles through personalised dietary approaches, alongside teaching across nutrition and medical education, with a strong emphasis on applying evidence to real-world practice.

Previously based in Dubai, she lectured at the University of Sharjah, supervised student projects, supported research initiatives, and co-authored peer-reviewed publications. She has a strong track record in translating complex scientific evidence into impact through public engagement, including television, radio, articles, and education programmes delivered in schools and community settings.

In the UK, Abir served as a member of the British Feeding and Drinking Group (BFDG) Scientific Committees in 2023 and 2024. She currently serves as Administrative Lead for ASO, working closely with senior academics to advance evidence-led initiatives, including the organisation of UKCO.
