Sara Alfaraidi is a PhD candidate at UCL’s Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health and a Clinical Dietitian, specialising in paediatric nutrition. She holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Nutrition and is a Registered Associate Nutritionist (ANutr) in the UK.
Her doctoral research uses a mixed-methods feasibility randomised controlled trial to assess the feasibility and acceptability of a culturally adapted food portion size tool for preschool children in Saudi Arabia. By targeting portion size during early childhood, the study aims to generate evidence to inform the development of preventive strategies to reduce excess energy intake and the risk of obesity later in life.
Sara is particularly interested in bridging research and practice by bringing together clinical nutrition, public health, and research to translate childhood nutrition evidence into practical solutions that help prevent obesity and improve population health outcomes.
