National Early Career Researcher Network
We are ASO’s Early Career Researcher (ECR) network team. Our main goal is to organise and facilitate a variety of talks and workshops (e.g., career panels, skills development, networking) aimed at supporting the progression of members who consider themselves as ECRs.
We define ECRs as researchers who have not yet held a full-time permanent academic post in a university or comparable institution. ECRs should not have held any substantial grant income as a Principal Investigator and / or should not have already established their own research group. There are no eligibility rules based on years of post-doctoral experience. Our definition of ECRs includes postgraduate students, doctoral students, post-doctoral researchers, and researchers transitioning to independence.
As part of our work, we organise and facilitate the one day ECR event held ahead of the UK Congress on Obesity each year together with local organising committees at host institutions. We are keen to collaborate and support local committees to best meet the needs of ECR members.
To see who leads the ECR network, please view the Research & Scientific Advisory Subcommittee webpage.
