Introducing Our New Trustee Role Appointments

Apr 11, 2025

We’re delighted to share some exciting updates to the ASO Board of Trustees, confirmed at our AGM in March 2025. Mary O’Kane has been appointed Chair, Aileen McGloin takes on the role of Deputy Chair, and Dr Sandra Isibor steps into the position of Honorary Secretary.

Each of these trustees brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to improving the lives of people affected by obesity. Here’s what they had to say about their new roles:

Mary O’Kane, Chair:
“I’m honoured to take on the role of Chair at such an important time for ASO. With Aileen and Sandra in their new roles, we have a strong and committed team to support the organisation’s mission and strategic direction. I look forward to working closely with our members, partners and wider stakeholders to help shape the future of obesity research and practice in the UK.”

Dr Aileen McGloin, Deputy Chair:
“It’s a privilege to support ASO in this new capacity. I’m excited to help drive our efforts to connect science, policy, and practice, and to amplify the impact of our work across the UK.”

Dr Sandra Isibor, Honorary Secretary:
“ASO plays a vital role in advancing evidence-based approaches to obesity. I’m delighted to contribute further in this role and support the governance that underpins our work.”
