This meeting aims to bring together early career obesity researchers in Yorkshire, showcase some of the early career research taking place in Yorkshire, and share insights from some researchers in the area who have successfully obtained fellowships. 

Program:

1:00 - 1:10 - Welcome (Dr Alice Kininmonth & Dr Sundus Mahdi).

1:10 - 2:00pm - ECR showcase presentations and panel discussion. 

2:00 - 2:10pm - General introduction to ECR fellowships (Dr Mark Hopkins)

2:10 - 3:00pm – Insights from current obesity fellows:

 

  • Dr Laura Gray, University of Sheffield- ECR Fellowships in Obesity Research: Applications and Implementation.
  • Dr Alice Bullas, Sheffield Hallam University- Future Leaders Fellowship on developing new body measurement methods for children living with obesity.

 

3:00 - 4:00pm – Dr Maddie Power, University of York- Reflections on applying for a Wellcome Trust Fellowship.

4:00 - 4:30pm - Break / networking - Brainstorming - What do you want to see in future ECR events?

4:30 - 4:45pm- Summary (Dr Nicola Buckland & Dr Beverley O’Hara).

 

Apply to present your research at our Early Career Researcher event

We are offering Early career obesity researchers in Yorkshire the opportunity to apply to present their research as part of our ECR showcase! Presentations will be 10 minutes in length. 

 

Why take part?

This will be a great opportunity to practice presenting your research to an audience of early career obesity researchers in Yorkshire, gain feedback and raise your profile.

 

How to apply?

To apply, you will be required to submit a brief overview of the research you will present at the ECR showcase. The overview should be no more than 200 words each. Applications should be submitted to Dr Alice Kininmonth (a.r.kininmonth@leeds.ac.uk).

 

Application deadline: 28th June, 23:59 hours.
